CURFEW
is a creative collective of one and many, of which Sönke Prigge is the only constant member. The German-British producer, keyboardist, composer and studio engineer explores the various soundscapes of his synthesisers, the power of sampled sounds in conjunction with real instruments and vocals.

Sönke harnesses influences from avant-garde, psychedelic, tribal and meditative arts and draws inspiration from musical and creative pioneers such as Kraftwerk and Massive Attack, plus also classical music, creating music and sounds that explore the mixture of styles and genres. However the music has been described as “Audio Architecture - Electronically Designed” and is rooted in electronica and the various sub-genres of EDM.

Formed in 2000 Sönke and a shifting cast of sonic renegades have so far issued a quartet of albums: Curfew, Inside, Outside and #curfew2020, a smattering of singles and EPs and a number of albums in collaboration with other artists and bands (click here for full list).

Although originally set out to be a studio project the Band have also played gigs in and around London and festivals across Europe and the US.

Sönke has been working on many different projects, such as film scoring, film-sound design and sound-recording/mixing, TV music, Game music and in 2006 has been working on the BAFTA award winning BBC program “The Wrong Trainers”, which achieved the prestigious price.

The long awaited 5th album is overdue (early 2024) and Sönke is currently working on recording a number of Piano pieces on his historical 1894 Bechstein Grand Piano as well as writing, producing and performing with Strange Addiction.

No CURFEW live shows are planned at this time.

Sound On Sound

"...'electronica', albeit with more live instrumentation than is often the case in this genre, live guitar, saxophone, cello, grand piano and trumpet embellishing many tracks. The music is impressively produced, with inventive beats and sonic detailing...."
