PROSOPAGNOSIA - Lyrics

Masquerade / Asylum-21 / Hurting / Games of Obedience

Asylum 21

Performed by Sönke Prigge, Milena Lainovic & TRPL A
Seems like I’ve been placed into an asylum
   Where the authorities and psychologists
Think something’s wrong, really wrong with me
My fellow patients look perfectly normal to me.
We are here, we think different
We don’t fit into the system
We are in a beta state, not in a Hive Mind
We think critically and ask questions.
I am frustrated even when I’m talking
People always say a conspiracy theorist
   And no one believes me
   The prophecy is reaching
   A social engineering,
   The truth in plain sight.
I am trapped
But I won’t play your games
Even if I don't get out
So many people believing in those lies
   But wait!   Hear us out!
Is it all true
   In my asylum?
   Is it all true
In my an asylum?

Confined in this asylum
Where independant thought is silenced
Where the sane walk mindless
Just to survive
I'm trapped in a padded cell
And I'm strapped all up in this effin straight jacket no escape
Tryina make sense of it all but I fall and I'm
Bangin' my head up against the wall 'till my neck breaks
When will I ever get out this forsaken place?
No way
Guess I gotta accept fate
They said I Don't fit the template
So im Destined to keep takin
That red pill...
Its till the day that I'm dead and it's
CHECK-MATE

Games of Obedience

Performed by Sönke Prigge & Milena Lainovic
What if the world around you has collapsed?
 You must keep on living
Would you adapt, would you obey?
Or would you stray and be free?
So many closed doors, so many prisoners
   In their own homes
While you are being shamed for having your own mind
   Keep your head up high.
 (Chorus)
At the end of the day you always knew
You were played in the
Games of obedience.

You are being chased
But there’s nowhere to run to
The divide between us is great
But we are all one race.
So many closed doors, so many prisoners
   In their own homes
While you are being shamed for having your own mind
   Keep your head up high.
(Chorus)
At the end of the day you always knew
You were played in the
Games of obedience.

Masquerade

Performed by Sönke Prigge & Milena Lainovic
Masquerade
 You’re dancing at this ball,
 But with a distance.
Masquerade
   You got invited here,
   But you don’t know why.
You wear the Mask and just obey
Dancing to a beat from an unknown soul
Your host tries his best but is not in control.
(Chorus)
   Masquerade
Who’s running the show?
Masquerade
Will you ever know?
Their masks are the perfect cloaks
While they are lurking in the shadows
   Supplying you with lies
   When the ball is over.
You’re leaving this hall
   And you are still searching,
But the world as you knew it is gone,
   It’s gone, it’s gone
   It’s over! Forever!
(Chorus)
   Masquerade
Who’s running the show?
Masquerade
Will you ever know?
(Speech)
   Masquerade
Dancing in the street to a new world beat
   Keep up your disguise
   Only showing your eyes
   You will be catered for
   In this world
   That’s rotten to the core.

Hurting

Performed by Sönke Prigge & Milena Lainovic
I’m hurting but you can’t see
 I’m hurting deep inside
I’m hurting and it’s nothing new
 Without moving but still alive.
I’m collecting hurts
   Like past events
   They keep on piling up.
(Chorus)
   But I keep on living
I keep carrying on
Try not to think too much
‘Cause after all - isn’t that what life is about?
To keep going until our time has come,
our time has come.
I’m hurting but you can’t see
   I’m hurting deep inside
I’m hurting and it’s nothing new
   Without moving but still alive.
The past is gone
   It can’t be changed
   Keep moving on
   Let the future be arranged.

(Chorus)
   But I keep on living
I keep carrying on
Try not to think too much
‘Cause after all - isn’t that what life is about?
To keep going until our time has come,
our time has come.

Prosopagnosia

is my most personal release to date. Not only did I write and play all the music, but in contrast to previous CURFEW releases I wrote all the lyrics, which were later edited by Milena, too. Milena did a great job fitting the words to the music and writing the vocal melodies.

As is probably easy to guess, the theme of this EP has to do with the world events that started in the year 2020 and will continue to dictate our lives and future. In a moment of calm during the 2020 house-arrest I managed to write the words based on my feelings, observations and fears (I didn’t know they would become song lyrics at the time).
It did become clear at the time, that free speech will be limited and “legally” banned. Having grown up with bands and music from the GDR (East Germany), where anything critical of the system and “the party” was forbidden, I followed their example of expressing myself by tailoring the words and disguising the lyrics (i.e. saying nothing by telling everything). I’ve tried not to mention certain words and rather tried to create stories that could be fictional, like going to a ball (Masquerade)
However, I’m not quite sure I did achieve my goal very well. We’ll see whether these songs will be picked up by any radio-stations or not.
Of course, the title of this EP >Prosopagnosia< , which means face blindness, is what might happen to all of us when people continue to wear their face-coverings. How are we supposed to recognise faces when they are covered up?

Asylum describes how I felt when I realised that most of my friends blindly followed the narrative and believed what they were told. More than that, their behaviour of self-righteousness, shaming and blaming anyone who’d ask questions and pointing out logical facts made me feel quite helpless, because no amount of discussion would make them see. This feeling of helplessness is what sane people who are falsely admitted into Asylums must feel. I believe it is far more difficult to convince someone that you are sane than the other way around!

Hurting is just what happens when you have reached a certain age and fail to forget anything that happened in your life. We are all carrying a lot of baggage. Some of us remember more and others less. I’m in the unfortunate situation that my brain fails to forget, which sometimes leads to painful memories. I’m mostly OK and know that the past can’t be changed, so I accept what happens and move on, because as I said in the song, we have to live until we die - and it’s easier when we are not trying to change the past and much more productive to try to build a better future. Blessed are those who can truly live in the moment without looking back or overthinking the future ;-)

Games of Obedience, well it all started with these words. As the events of 2020 unfolded, it became clear that only those who OBEY will fall for these ‘games’, because everything “they” are trying to tell us is based on consent. The reason of the military style drums, is that I believe that if we don’t play their games they will even go as far as deploying the army to tell us that their narrative is right and we have to live in fear. I refuse. I don’t want to live in fear, life’s far too precious to have it dictated by fear!!

ENJOY the Music.
